Match on the ISO boundary dimensions (bore × outside diameter × width) and the bearing type. A 6205 deep groove ball bearing from SKF, Timken and FAG all share 25×52×15 mm dimensions and are interchangeable. Suffixes such as -2RS, -2Z or -E1 describe seals, shields and internal design, not the envelope size.
For metric deep groove ball bearings the last two digits give the bore in millimetres for bores from 20 mm up (multiply by 5): 6205 → 25 mm bore. Series prefixes (6000 = extra light, 6200 = light, 6300 = medium) indicate the width and outer-diameter relationship.
The basic dynamic load rating (C) is the load a bearing can carry for a rating life of one million revolutions (L10). The basic static load rating (C0) is the maximum load a stationary bearing can withstand without permanent deformation of the raceways.
Only if the dimensions, load capacity and speed limits suit the application. Roller bearings carry far higher radial loads but lower speed and usually no axial location, so the housing, shaft fit and lubrication must be reviewed.
